The Proffesional
Lately it has become very difficult to choose the right photographer, there are literally 1000th’s that will offer their “professional service”.We are aware of these concerns and I will try and answer some of them here:
What is a professional photographer?
It is a person that earns the majority of his income from photography, not just over the weekends.
He is equipped with professional grade equipment, that entails at least 2 camera bodies in case one fails, each camera has got dual memory cards also for backup, remember this is a very importent day, if his equipment fails, memories for your day are gone for ever.
He uses at least 2 different sized zoom lenses, to cater for all possible scenarious.
He is prepared for any unforeseen circumstance, for example he has professional lighting equipment he can use, if the sun disappears behind clouds and it is not possible with natural light to take that sparkling photo of the bride, not a pop up flash on his camera!
Choosing the photographic style
Personal style is unique and this should be evident in your wedding photos. The style you choose can add amazing artistic creative elements to normal images that stand out from the rest. Talk to the photographer and discuss with him, if he is able to full fill your style. See our article on the different styles
The Interview
As a Bride or Groom, you put a lot of trust in your wedding photographer. It is imperative that you feel comfortable and relaxed in their presence.
You have to fell comfortable around your photographer or it will be apparent in your wedding photos.
If your photographer is friendly, approachable and down to earth, your guests will be at ease allowing the photographer to blend in and capture the as it unfolds.
Talk Money
The most important part of the pricing is to understand what is included and what is not. As you should be open about your budget, your photographer should be just as open.
Hidden cost can include specific artwork, photo album, special editing you would like done and travel expense. Best is to clarify all that is included or not before entering into a contract.
The Trial run
An engagement photoshoot is always a good idea – it’s a great opportunity to get to know your photographer and to begin to feel comfortable having your photo taken.
